A spa on the 25th floor of the Crown Building, where the city noise that's been eating at you all week simply ceases to exist. The Aman New York Spa trades in total immersion: hammered metals, warm stone, and the kind of hushed calm that feels less designed than inevitable. One of Vogue's 100 Best Spas in the World, it draws the quietly wealthy crowd that considers a pool and steam ritual a reasonable Tuesday.

A spa that sits above the Dior boutique on 57th Street, which tells you everything about the aesthetic before you've booked a treatment. A handful of rooms, every surface predictably plush, and a vibe calibrated less toward transcendence than toward walking out looking like you have somewhere important to be. Vogue named it among the 100 best spas in the world, which the clientele already assumed.

Rank 5. Bemelmans Bar
Prohibition-Style Cocktail Bar
The wall murals were painted by Ludwig Bemelmans, the man behind Madeline, and he never paid rent, trading the art for a year's lodging instead. This Carlyle hotel cocktail bar has been a stronghold of old-money Manhattan for decades, all leather banquettes and low piano notes, the martinis notoriously strong. The crowd runs toward people who have a lot to lose and dress accordingly.

Rank 7. King Cole Bar
Cocktail Bar
A Maxfield Parrish mural of Old King Cole anchors this small, high-ceilinged hotel cocktail bar inside the St. Regis, and it's been staring down the room since the Golden Age of illustration. The bar's other claim to history is the Bloody Mary, which Fernand Petiot is said to have perfected here. The menu still leans into that, which is either heritage or a hint. Either way, the room is beautiful and the drinks are stiff.
