A ryokan built on a forested spit between a Buddhist temple and the Asoumi Sea, with hot-spring onsen steaming away in an open central courtyard. Rooms are done in sukiya wood-frame style with tatami floors and low chabudai tables, and most look out over water on at least one side. The kind of place that makes a Western hotel bed feel faintly embarrassing afterward.
