Rank 2. Bo.lan
Thai
Fine-dining Thai in a Sukhumvit soi, Bo.lan is built on the premise that royal kitchen recipes and street-food memories belong on the same tasting menu. Duangporn "Bo" Songvisava and Dylan "Lan" Jones source ingredients from artisans across the country, which is what happens when a couple turns their homework into a restaurant. The kitchen holds a Michelin star. Order the prix fixe and let the meal unfold.

Rank 3. Resonance
Modern Japanese
A Michelin-starred modern Japanese tasting menu inside a contemporary Bangkok townhouse, stripped back to almost nothing so the cooking holds all the attention. The chef was born in Tokyo and trained across several countries, and the seasonal set menu moves through that whole journey in a single sitting. The drinks pairing ranges across wine, beer, and sake, which is more interesting than a straight Burgundy list, even if that list is also there.

Rank 8. Luma
Spanish
The L-shaped counter puts you close enough to the kitchen that you'll feel personally involved in the paella. This Spanish restaurant on Sukhumvit 55 runs through the full range, from Basque pintxos and jamón ibérico to suckling pig, and the portions land big enough that under-ordering is genuinely the move. Sharing plates fill the table fast, and the mezzanine works well for a group that wants a little more breathing room.

Rank 8. Shirokane Tori-Tama
Japanese
Smoke from the binchotan charcoal is the first thing you notice, before you've even sat down. This is a yakitori restaurant from Tokyo, and the kitchen is open in the middle of the room so the whole meal doubles as a floor show of skewers and coal. The team works through the whole bird, beak to tail, in far more configurations than seems reasonable for one animal. The chicken liver pâté with warm baguette is a genuine curveball worth ordering.

Rank 13. #FindTheLockerRoom
Speakeasy
A row of steel lockers in an alleyway off Thonglor is the door, which tells you everything about the vibe inside this tiny speakeasy. The cocktail menu works through pop culture decades, so you might sip something with foam styled after a Troll doll's hair while Cyndi Lauper plays overhead. It's dark, a little absurd, and completely in on the joke. The Infatuation named it one of Bangkok's 20 best bars.

A giant LED tree rises through the center of the main bar on the 46th floor of the T-One Building, which tells you most of what you need to know about Tichuca. It's a rooftop bar with 360-degree views over Bangkok, forest-themed decor that commits harder than it probably should, a second bar at an even higher vantage point, and a tequila list long enough to make the elevator ride down genuinely interesting.
