    The 1 Hotels brand, known for green luxury in Manhattan and Miami, brings the same unfinished eco-materials aesthetic to Hainan island, where it blends more naturally than you'd expect. This is a self-contained luxury resort: five pools, six restaurants and bars, the Bamford Wellness Spa, and a serious gym, all holding a Michelin Key. Rooms are contemporary and genuinely plush, and you'd need a reason to leave the property, which is sort of the point.
