The rooftop pool here looks out over Faro's city-center rooftops rather than any beach, which tells you most of what you need to know about this urban resort. A hundred-odd rooms and suites, some with jacuzzis on private terraces, sit alongside a spa with an indoor pool, sauna, and Turkish bath. Two restaurants cover Italian and Algarve-meets-Mediterranean. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key. Beach towns rarely pull off "resort" without the beach, but the city is walkable from the door.
