An old industrial building in Surry Hills, close to the CBD, converted with enough retained patina that the brick walls do the decorating for you. The Ace Hotel Sydney holds a Michelin Key, and rooms come with vintage wool blankets and retro styling, with the occasional turntable or acoustic guitar thrown in. The lobby bar, rooftop restaurant, and ground-floor café mean you barely need to leave, which is probably the point.
