Alley 41
Sichuan
You have to find it first, which is half the fun: Alley 41 is tucked off Flushing's Main Street, and the room inside, all concrete and curved wood, reads more like a design hotel than a Sichuan restaurant. The electronic menu is long but the photos are accurate, so trust them. Mapo tofu and roasted-chili braised beef arrive fast and genuinely fiery. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and the heat alone earns the detour.
