Curved white walls and circular window frames give this 24-room boutique resort on Erhai Lake the look of a Mediterranean villa that took a very long wrong turn and ended up in Yunnan. The architecture is deliberately foreign to Dali's terracotta vernacular, which is either a conceptual statement or very good marketing. Freestanding stone baths, balconies fixed on the Cangshan range, and an infinity pool complete the picture.
