A ryokan in the mountains of Ishikawa Prefecture where someone has thought carefully about how shadows fall on a wall when light filters through a bamboo screen. Seventeen rooms, each with tatami living areas, private cypress baths fed by hot springs, and windows framing the woods. Three communal baths look nothing alike. The kitchen follows the seasons closely, drawing from both mountain and coast. It holds a Michelin Key.
