Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Wolfgangsee from a first-floor dining room above a café on the waterfront promenade in St. Gilgen. This is a Michelin-starred tasting menu restaurant, five to eight courses of creative Austrian cooking, with a sommelier who takes the wine pairing seriously. The kitchen opens only part of the year, which makes a table here feel less like a reservation and more like something you actually have to plan for.
