Bottega Caruso
Southern Italian
A former pub in Margate's old town, now a small, unpretentious osteria where the team makes pasta by hand and sources much of the larder from Campania. The cooking runs to rustic small plates and snacks, including a bread "meatball" in tomato sauce that sounds like a joke until you try it. The same crew run a deli nearby that moonlights as a wine bar on weekends, which makes the whole block feel like a southern Italian takeover of the Kent coast.
