The baroque decor, all gilded and ornate, sets the tone before you've looked at the menu. Brasserie Chavant is an old-school institution in central Grenoble, running the full Gallic brasserie playbook: eggs mayo, beef tartare, duck magret. Then the kitchen pivots slightly and serves langoustine ravioles with foie gras and truffle, which is either an elegant non-sequitur or exactly why you came. Either way, the room looks like it approves.
