    An old painted sign still marks the façade of this trattoria tucked among chestnut trees and tufa outcroppings outside the village. The cooking is rooted Piedmontese, the kind that hasn't chased trends, and the Michelin Guide gives it a Bib Gourmand for the trouble. A terrace opens in warm weather, an early twentieth-century cellar sits below, and in winter a fireplace does exactly what a fireplace should.
