Raw concrete walls and thatched roofs share space without apology at this small hotel in Bacalar, a lakeside town near the Belize border that most visitors fly over on their way to the Riviera Maya. Rooms follow themes of ether, earth, and fire, all with patios or balconies for indoor-outdoor idling. The spa, which earns the "rituales" in the name, draws on Maya and Ayurvedic traditions.
