A shepherd's cottage and a 19th-century stone house on the western slope of Serra da Estrela, expanded and fitted out into a 15-room luxury boutique hotel where some suites have freestanding bathtubs aimed at the valley below. Wood and stone keep the rooms from going too cold, a library has a concrete reading nook that's cozier than it sounds, and the spa runs to an indoor pool, two outdoor pools, and a natural waterfall on the property. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Key.
