A 13th-century château rising over the Beaujolais vines, complete with a moat and fortified towers that no one felt the urge to Disneyify. This is a hotel where the Renaissance wall paintings and the 17th-century furnishings are the real ones, not the reproductions. Dinner happens in the old guardroom; the wine list runs all ten Beaujolais crus. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.
