Château de Courcelles

A 17th-century country château set on 25 acres of parkland less than an hour from Paris, where Christian Dior once entertained and Jean Cocteau allegedly designed the central staircase. Each room is unique and richly detailed, the service runs personal rather than corporate, and the cellar leans into small Champagne producers you probably haven't tried yet. It stays resolutely old-fashioned, which here is not a warning but a selling point.
