Château de la Bourdaisière

A real castle owned by an actual prince, which feels like the setup to a joke until you're sleeping in a Marie-Antoinette-style bed beneath beamed ceilings. This château hotel outside Tours has 22 rooms and four apartments dressed with antique furnishings and stone walls. The 70-hectare grounds hold a pool, a tennis court, and, inexplicably, a conservatory of 785 tomato varieties that feeds the outdoor summer kitchen.
