Communal Hotel Kutaisi

A 19th-century townhouse in Kutaisi's old quarter, with Symbolist poetry stenciled on the walls and photographs of local playwrights keeping watch from the hallways. Each room follows the original floor plan and comes stuffed with antiques, including one with a clawfoot tub under a frieze of Jason himself. The Doli restaurant runs a traditional clay oven for Western Georgian cooking. A boutique hotel that wears its city's mythology lightly, which is harder than it sounds.
