Freestanding baths on open terraces, Erhai Lake below, the Cangshan range beyond: the sightlines alone explain the name. This small hillside hotel sits on the eastern shore above the water, its white render and rough stone looking less like Yunnan and more like coastal Mexico, which is a choice the whole property commits to without flinching. Thatched pergolas, tropical courtyard planting, and not much of an agenda make it a destination for guests who mean it when they say they want to do nothing.
