    Mittenwald is better known for violin-making than fine dining, which makes a Michelin-starred restaurant tucked near the pedestrian zone a pleasant surprise. The chef reworks traditional Bavarian tavern cooking into something sharper and more considered, served as set menus, including a vegetarian version and a sharing option for the whole table. The room stays properly unfussy, the kind of place where the mountain air feels like it followed you in.
