  1. Des Trois Tours

    Contemporary French

A 19th-century mansion on the edge of Fribourg, with a plane-tree terrace that makes the whole thing feel slightly unfair to every other restaurant in the canton. This is refined contemporary French cooking, the kind that earns a Michelin star by pairing Atlantic cod with sea urchin and folding pork into something involving mint and shellfish. The wine list moves easily between Switzerland and France, and the service reads the room without being asked.

    One honor, in evidence:

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
