    A Gothic cut-stone castle hotel in the west of Ireland, close enough to Shannon Airport that you'll barely have time to wonder if you've made a terrible financial decision. Rooms are vast, the parkland and Shannon river views are genuinely cinematic, and activities run from garden walks to golf to shooting. The Earl of Thomond Restaurant does formal Irish fine dining, complete with a resident harpist. Dromoland holds a Michelin Key.
