Sitting just outside Yecla near an industrial estate, which is either charmingly unpretentious or a test of conviction depending on your mood, Estirpe is a tasting-menu restaurant where the chef treats his hometown as a culinary crossroads, pulling from the traditions of La Mancha, Alicante, and Murcia at once. Three menus run from seven to eleven courses, and the pre-dessert is named for a local mountain known for cave paintings, which is a lovely way to close a loop.
