The name comes from the half-timbered façade of the hotel building it occupies, a structure that's been around since the 17th century. Inside, exposed beams and brickwork share space with clean modern design, and the restaurant serves contemporary seasonal cooking as a set menu or à la carte. The wine list runs to over 1,500 labels, with some strong Rieslings among them, which in a small Lower Saxon town is either a pleasant surprise or the whole reason to come.
