    A glass-topped table made from a wind-felled tree sits at the centre of the dining room in this gothic Lakeland mansion, which sets the tone nicely. The kitchen garden and local farms drive the menus, and the team forages too, so what arrives on the plate is very much from this particular valley. Four and eight-course Modern British tasting menus, including a vegetarian version. One Michelin star.
