A Banyan tree anchors the open courtyard of this boutique hotel inside a Dutch-era spice trading mansion on Galle Fort's UNESCO-listed Church Street. Eleven years of renovation left the colonial bones intact and added rooms dressed in local timber and ceramic tile, a library, a tea-infused spa, and a salvaged-timber bar whose menu tracks the port city's layered Portuguese, Dutch, and Sri Lankan history. The L-shaped pool hides in the garden below.
