Gasthaus zum Adler
Palatinate German
Old sandstone walls and wooden ceiling beams anchor a very modern room at this family-run inn on the German Wine Route, where two sisters have quietly rerouted a generations-old kitchen toward Latin-American-inflected Palatinate cooking. The menu runs short on purpose, and a handful of seasonal dishes can be assembled into a three or four-course meal. Regional wines fill the list, and the welcome is the warm, unhurried kind that makes you forget you ordered anything at all.
