The Goto Islands, off Kyushu's west coast, have drawn pilgrims for centuries, and this design-forward resort leans into that quietude without the religion. Architecture is arranged to pull in natural light and frame the surrounding seascapes, the spa runs spring-fed onsen baths, and the restaurant works through the island's Goto beef. A Michelin Key property that earns its stillness. Getting here takes effort; that's more or less the point.
