    The Lutyens-designed Arts and Crafts house sits right on the edge of Muirfield, which explains why half the guests arrive with golf bags and a quiet intensity about them. It's a proper country house hotel, classic in feel and unhurried in pace, with rooms that stay traditional without tipping into fussy. Chez Roux, the in-house restaurant, carries Albert Roux's name and his French sensibility, part of his small Scottish empire.
