The deep red exterior walls practically radiate heat in the Yucatán sun, which sets the tone for this converted sisal plantation turned luxury resort outside Mérida. Just 28 rooms, but each one runs to 18-foot ceilings, antique hardwood furniture, ornate tile, a plunge pool, and an indoor hammock, apparently a Mayan tradition nobody is complaining about. The ruins of Uxmal are twenty miles down the road, which is the one compelling reason to leave.
