A former drive-up motor inn on a legendary surf break near the Gold Coast, Halcyon House has been remade into a boutique hotel where no two rooms look alike, all decorated by Brisbane designer Anna Spiro with a level of detail that borders on the obsessive. The heated saltwater pool and a spa are on hand, but it's the kind of place where the real draw is stepping off the sand and into something that looks nothing like a beach motel should.
