    Heated hardwood floors and exposed brick from a conversion that started as an actual carriage works, which explains the name of the hotel's own restaurant downstairs. This boutique hotel sits between Liverpool's two cathedrals in the cultural quarter, walkable from the Philharmonic Hall and the Tate. Rooms run to big beds in Egyptian cotton, rain showers, and Arne Jacobsen fittings, with top-floor suites looking out over the Mersey.
