A converted Victorian civic hall on Old Elvet, Hotel Indigo Durham keeps the rotunda of the old Council chamber intact and fills the rest with copper bathtubs, local artwork, and rooms that work around the original floor plan rather than against it. Some suites are a little eccentric as a result, which suits Durham. The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Bar sits under that domed ceiling, which is an absurd amount of drama for a hotel restaurant.
