The bars on the windows are original, which is either a design choice or a warning, depending on how you feel about Offenburg. Hotel Liberty is a former 19th-century prison converted into a luxury hotel, with exposed brick ceilings, a sandstone wine bar in the old cellar, and a cocktail lounge in the former yard. Onetime cells are now parquet-floored guest rooms, and the rooftop suite keeps the original timber beams.
