Perched on a lava rock shelf jutting into the Atlantic, this tiny hotel on El Hierro holds a Michelin Key and once held a Guinness record as the smallest hotel on earth. The stone building, protected as a cultural site, is essentially a nautical museum you sleep inside: antique compasses, porthole glass bedside tables, driftwood mirror frames. All rooms face the ocean, and the lounge bar has a galley warmth perfect for coming in from the wind.
