Emilian Italian
A fourth-generation family trattoria in a small Lombardy town, Il Frate has been around forever and shows it in the best possible, unselfconscious way. The kitchen leans Emilian, heavy on the classics, and plates arrive generous and steaming. Giorgio runs the dining room with the ease of someone who grew up there, and the digital wine list runs to around 350 labels, weighted toward northern Italy.
