Ten floors of Corinthian columns, arched windows, and ironwork balconies rising above Guandu District, looking very much like a European palazzo that took a wrong turn. The hotel calls its style French Nanyang, a Baroque-meets-tropical blend that suits Kunming's famously mild climate better than you'd expect. The lobby sits on the top floor with city views, and a rooftop pool, bar, and Chinese and Asian restaurant round things out.
