An eighteenth-century bastide on a cypress-and-olive hillside above Grasse, close enough to Cannes to feel connected but secluded enough that the Rolling Stones once hid out here from the taxman. The Provençal rooms have terracotta floors, antique furnishings, and oversized bathrooms; outside there's a heated pool and, charmingly, a bowling rink. The restaurant, run by Jacques Chibois, is the main draw for most guests.
