La Maison Hotel - Lijiang

A cluster of old Naxi houses on Wenzhi Lane, reassembled into a 32-room boutique hotel that looks exactly like its ancient-town neighbors and feels nothing like them inside. Solid wood furniture, a lobby done up as a classical teahouse with ink calligraphy and shelves of tea, and courtyard gardens sized for a quiet afternoon pot. Rooms look out over grey-tiled rooftops. The restaurant runs Yunnan cooking and high tea.
