Yen Tu Mountain is considered the birthplace of Vietnamese Buddhism, and this luxury resort sits at its base, built to look like a traditional palace and monastery because apparently the bar for hotel theming can be set very high. No TVs anywhere, but the rooms have forest-facing windows, dark wood paneling, copper lamps, and private balconies on many floors. Staying here means beating the pilgrimage crowds to the pagodas at dawn, which is its own reward.
