The front desk is a slab of 3,000-year-old sequoia, which sets the tone for a downtown luxury hotel that takes its design seriously. Philippe Starck did the rooms in mid-century modern, a 1908 beaux arts building anchors the facade, and the glass tower behind it runs 44 stories with views over Elliott Bay. A fine-dining restaurant and a spa are both on-site when you surface. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.
