Maison Jalon looks like it teleported from a 1960s Palm Springs postcard and landed, somehow logically, just outside Aix-en-Provence. This boutique hotel has boxy motel-style rooms with big bay windows, retro lamps, colorful wallpaper, and art the owners collected traveling the world. Every room gets a private terrace above the garden and a very blue swimming pool. Breakfast arrives al fresco with fresh-squeezed juice and hot pastries, and the daybeds around the pool handle the rest of the afternoon.
