Hydra has exactly one sandy beach, and this modern luxury resort sits on it, built into the bones of a 19th-century naval fortification. The weathered stone and spare contemporary interiors share the space without fighting each other, and nothing in the place runs smaller than a suite. The watchtower room has sea views that stretch embarrassingly far. Come evening, the beach-bar restaurant drifts from sunburned ease toward something a little more dressed up.
