    South-facing rooms in this 20-story Midtown hotel stare straight at the Empire State Building, which is the kind of view that makes unpacking feel ceremonial. The rooms themselves are quietly comfortable rather than flashy, and the rooftop lounge with live entertainment gives the place more personality than the address on West 37th might suggest. A street-level cafe handles coffees and cocktails for anyone not ready to brave the Garment District yet.
