Mocotó Vila Medeiros
Sertão Brazilian
Way out in Vila Medeiros, this casual Sertão restaurant has been drawing São Paulo north since Zé Almeida first ladled out mocotó decades ago. His son, chef Rodrigo Oliveira, now runs the kitchen, keeping the northeastern Brazilian cooking rooted while the menu stretches from bar snacks to slow-grilled carne de sol with bottled butter. The room is deliberately unpretentious, the kind of place that means it. A Michelin Bib Gourmand.
