Stone cloisters, hand-painted frescoes, and a 300-year-old cedar in the courtyard: Monasterio is a Belmond hotel built inside a colonial-era monastery a short walk from the Plaza de Armas. Rooms occupy the old monks' quarters, dressed in alpaca throws and marble, and some are oxygen-enriched for the altitude, which is a feature you don't find at most places.
