    Charlie Palmer owns this place, but you'd never know it from the branding. The Mystic is a hotel in a 1906 building two blocks from Union Square, renovated carefully enough that the rooms feel more like a prewar San Francisco apartment than a boutique property. They run small, so book a suite if you need to spread out. Downstairs, Burritt Room + Tavern does craft cocktails and seasonal American food against live jazz six nights a week.
