A tatami-only ryokan on the Maruyama River, where every room puts you at floor level and kaiseki dinners arrive in the unhurried cadence of the countryside. The inn holds its own onsen baths, but guests also get a pass to wander Kinosaki's famous public bathhouses, which is half the point of coming here. No Western beds, no corners cut toward modernity. The Michelin Guide awards it 2 Keys.
