    The glass-roofed Garden Court, with its original chandeliers and marble columns, stops people mid-step every time. This grand old San Francisco luxury hotel has been around forever, and the sprawling rooms, redone with a designer's eye for marrying ornate architectural bones to quiet modern comfort, don't feel like a museum or a renovation. The Court may inspire you to dress for dinner, though whether that means a gown or a very nice hoodie is apparently a local judgment call.
